The Island Funeral

The film follows the life of Laila, a Muslim woman who leaves Bangkok with her brother for Pattani in the far south and a reunion with her aunt. On the trip she comes to grips with both Western ideas and Thai politics, including the ethno-religious insurgency that has gripped this region for decades, fighting against assimilation and military repression.
